Dionysia
DIONYSIA (Die-Oh-Knee-See-Ya): A drunken righteous party thrown in the honor of the Greek God Dionysus,
the God of music, wine, and mischief. These enormous celebrations lasted weeks at a time and consisted of the
mass consumption of wines and fine foods, theatrical presentations, music and mad frenzied orgies.
A band which fuses melodic rock, with a little Latin and funk, and has vocals that sell. Dionysia was established in
1999 out of St. Louis Mo. Their songwriting is based on the intertwining relationship between strong vocals and
melodic guitar melodies playing. Since Dionysia incorporates so many wonderful styles of music, such as Rock,
Latin, Funk, Reggae, Blues, Jazz, and Classical, their following is not only very large but also incredibly diverse
from a demographics standpoint. Their diverse style attracts a fan base of men and women, ages 15 to 50.
With Dionysia’s 37 original compositions, and their tribute to such bands as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steppe
wolf, and Pearl Jam to name a few, they are capable of providing 4 solid hours of musical entertainment. The band
also offers a 2 hour unplugged performance, reciting five evenings at the Sheldon Concert Hall (2002-2006).
